‘Space for improvement’ – Conte offers view on Tottenham’s current level

Antonio Conte has thanked his Tottenham players for their commitment shown since he took charge but admits there is still room for improvement for the club to reach its goals.

Conte was hired in November in place of Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked after just four months, and has managed to turn Spurs’ season outlook around.

With just three games to go, the N17-based side are still firmly in a race with Arsenal to finish in the Premier League top four and face off against the Gunners in tomorrow’s crucial north London derby.

And fresh after leading his team to a hard-fought point against title contenders Liverpool on Saturday, Conte has reiterated his delight with how his Tottenham players have knuckled down under his guidance.

But the 52-year-old tactician insists the squad can find another gear to take the next step in achieving their targets.

Conte said (via Football.London): “It depends on the target. I can only say thanks to my players. These seven months they’ve shown great commitment, behaviour and being 120 per cent working. For this reason I have to say thanks.

“If now we are in this position, fighting for a Champions League place, it means the players improved a lot and they made the important step forward.

“But for sure there is space for improvement, but you have to know for which target you have to play.”

Tottenham’s improvement since Conte arrived is pretty evident and he can keep that going with the right commitment from the players as well as resources from the club.

There are areas that have been massively improved and others that are still lacking, but a manager like Conte can address those with time and support.
