Spanish club president describes Spurs midfielder as a ‘magnificent player’

Sevilla president José Castro has revealed he is an admirer of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, however, a move will not be orchestrated by himself.

The La Liga outfit’s transfer operations are conducted by their sporting director, Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, commonly known as Monchi.

Castro told ABC Sevilla: “Lo Celso? He’s a magnificent player… but that doesn’t mean anything. I’m just saying he’s a good player. That’s it… the signings, (they’re) for Monchi.”

The report claims that Sevilla have been monitoring the 26-year-old since his days playing back in his native Argentina for Rosario Central.

Lo Celso spent the second half on loan at fellow Spanish outfit Villarreal, where he helped the Yellow Submarine to reach the semi-final of the Champions League.

Villarreal CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles admitted that Lo Celso is keen to extend his stay at the Estadio de la Cerámica, however, they must first look to sell before they can bring in any new faces (The Times).

Lo Celso’s performances, especially in the Champions League would have certainly helped to attract attention from interested clubs. His time at Tottenham looks to be well and truly over, with the Argentine failing to impress on a consistent basis under Mourinho, Nuno and Conte.
