‘Special feeling to wear the shirt’ – Bale reacts to homecoming season at Spurs

Gareth Bale has taken to social media to thank Tottenham fans for their support after netting a brace in what could be his final game in a Lilywhite shirt.

Bale came on as a substitute with a little over 20 minutes left on the clock at the King Power Stadium with Spurs trailing 2-1, a result that would have seen the Lilywhites finish below their North London rivals Arsenal for the first time in five years.

However, the Welshman spearheaded a late comeback from the away side as his brace and a Kasper Schmeichel own-goal saw Spurs end up 4-2 winners, sealing a seventh-place finish and a place in the inaugural edition of the Europa Conference League.

There has been plenty of speculation over whether Bale is likely to return to Spurs next season and the 31-year-old stated after yesterday’s win that he had already made the decision but refused to reveal what it was.

The forward took to Twitter after the game to admit that it was a special feeling to be back in a Spurs shirt.
