“Sport is sometimes cruel” – Spurs midfielder sends emotional message after CL loss

Tottenham Hotspur fell one step short of being crowned European champions after Liverpool beat Spurs 2-0 in the final on Saturday. After the final whistle, several Spurs stars, as well as manager Mauricio Pochettino, were in tears.

While Tottenham did tremendously to get to the final, there was a sense that this was a great chance to make history.

Given the dramatic way in which Spurs overcame their opponents in the previous rounds, some thought that their name was destined on the trophy this year but that wasn’t to be the case.

Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who started the game and gave away the unfortunate early penalty took to social media to send a message to the fans after the final following several other Spurs stars.

The 29-year-old conveyed his disappointment at the result but said that he was proud of his teammates for how well they have done during the campaign.

The Frenchman also assured fans that the team will come back stronger from the disappointing result.

While it is obviously difficult to see too many positives now while the wounds are still fresh, this season will be remembered for a while by most Spurs fans.

One of the biggest highlights of this term has been Sissoko’s performances in the middle of the park. The Frenchman has completely turned around his Tottenham career over the course of the season.
