Schalke Sporting Director Rouven Schroder has revealed that he expects centre-back Ozan Kabak to leave the club ‘in a timely manner’ this summer.
Kabak spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Liverpool before returning to the German club and Schroder has now claimed that Schalke need to sell up.
The central defender is reportedly expected to cost just £13m this summer and is on around £34,000 per week in wages, an amount that Schalke cannot afford.
Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this summer that Spurs would look at making a move for Kabak after his period on loan with Liverpool.
However, Kabak played just nine Premier League games and four Champions League games for the Reds last time out (TransferMarkt) and they subsequently decided against triggering the £18m option to buy.
Schroder said: “Ozan is positioned in the player market in such a way that I believe that the transfer can also work in a timely manner. We can assume that it is also his own claim that he will face greater challenges.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
If Spurs are looking for a cheap prospect then Kabak certainly fits in that category. It’s a tough one to assess because he struggled on loan at Liverpool but he also wasn’t given much of a chance, being there for only the second half of one season.
