Copenhagen sporting director Peter Christiansen has confirmed that the Danish side had opportunities to sell rumoured Tottenham target Roony Bardghji during last month’s transfer window and he hinted the youngster will make a step up to bigger club sooner rather than later.
Tottenham have had plenty of success with their strategy of signing budding young talents over recent years, with the likes of Destiny Udogie and Pape Sarr on their way to becoming superstars.
Spurs have thus stuck by the tactic, having secured Ashley Phillips and Luka Vuskovic last summer before swooping for Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall in January.
It has been widely reported over the last few months that Tottenham also have their eye on another emerging star from Scandinavia in the form of Bardghji, who has found the back of the net 11 times across all competitions this season.
Various publications have reported over the last couple of months that the 18-year-old winger is being watched with keen interest by Spurs’ scouts (90 min).

Spurs may have to pay a big fee for Roony Bardghji
Bardghji ended up staying put at the Danish capital in January and Christiansen has now shed light on the club’s decision to hang on to the youngster, admitting that the player did attract plenty of transfer interest.
When asked if the club could have sold the winger last month, the Copenhagen director told Bold.dk: “In general terms, I can say that we have a lot of players who have done well for a long time.
“So, I think I’ll stick to saying that if we wanted to, we could have done it, but that has not been our aim. Roony’s time will come. I’m sure of that.”
Christiansen added that Copenhagen hope to get a big fee for Bardghji when he eventually departs, admitting that the attacker has big ambitions.
When asked about the possibility of the winger fetching a club record €20m (£17m) fee, he said: “After all, it’s the market that determines what the price will be. It’s clear that the bigger the club, the more muscle they have financially, and so the transfer will be bigger for us.
“I’m sure he’ll probably get the opportunity at some point, but it wasn’t in this window. But he certainly has the potential for it, but let’s see.”
“We know what dreams and talent he has, but he’s a humble boy who works insanely hard on the training ground. He has his dreams, and that is a huge driving force for him. But that’s just the way it is at Copenhagen.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Given Tottenham’s failed pursuit of Antonio Nusa in January, we know that the club are looking to add another young attacker to their squad. I would certainly not be surprised if they made a move for Bardghji next summer.
Perhaps the presence of Kulusevski and now Lucas Bergvall would help the Lilywhites convince the young Swede about making a move to North London.
