Sporting Lisbon boss makes confident claim about Pedro Porro amid Spurs talks

Sporting Lisbon boss, Ruben Amorim, has confidently asserted that Pedro Porro will not leave the club before the Portuguese Cup Final tomorrow (Noticia Minuto).

This comes after Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth reiterated today that Porro wants to play in the cup final so he can ‘go out with a bang’ at his current club before moving to Tottenham.

Despite this, Fabrizio Romano still reports that all parties involved in the deal expect the transfer to be finalised by the end of Sunday, which would obviously be after the cup final.

Marco Conterio from TuttoMercatoWeb claimed today that the release clause in Porro’s contract can only be triggered in the summer, so Sporting now want a higher fee for a January deal, which comes as a ‘surprise’.

Bruno Andrade added that unexpected additional talks will occur between Tottenham and Sporting Lisbon today.

Sporting boss Ruben Amorim said (Noticia Minuto): “He [Porro] does not leave before the game [v Porto]. Whatever has to happen, happens. We’re prepared for all scenarios. I don’t know if it’s the last game or not, until the 1st [Feb], we will not know.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I’m keeping my fingers crossed, but this feels like Sporting dragging their heels so Porro can play in the cup final, while Spurs probably don’t want to sign anything just in case he picks up a long-term injury. Hopefully, things move fast after the full-time whistle tomorrow.
