Spurs’ £11m signing is hauled off after just 45 minutes as difficult season continues

Jack Clarke’s testing start to the new season has continued this evening with his return to Leeds United not exactly going to plan.

Clarke became Tottenham Hotspur’s first signing in 517 days when he made the switch from the Elland Road outfit early last month (Sky Sports).

As part of the £11m deal, Clarke was immediately loaned back to Leeds for the duration of the 2019/20 campaign with the hope of continuing his footballing education (Independent).

The 18-year-old has failed to appear for Leeds in the Championship this season and did not even make the bench in the last two matches.

Clarke was named in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting eleven for their Carabao Cup second round tie against Stoke City but was one of three players hauled off at half time with Bielsa’s side trailing 2-0.

The winger also appeared in Leeds’ previous Carabao Cup tie against Salford City, but is certainly finding his chances limited to impress.

Opinion

Spurs fans were hoping that they would see Clarke feature regularly this season and be in a position to challenge for a place in the squad upon his return to North London. At this rate, the club must surely be considering re-allocating his loan spell at another club.
