Spurs to miss out on £16m defensive starlet

0

Manchester United will beat Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham to the signature of Blackburn defender Phil Jones, 19, but he will cost them £16m.

That is what is being reported in today’s Daily Mirror. Spurs are known to be keen to strengthen their central defensive ranks with long-term doubts over the fitness of Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King. Sebastien Bassong is also being tipped to leave White Hart Lane this summer.

Jones is regarded as one of the brightest defensive prospects in the country but with Sir Alex Ferguson determined to land the England under-21 star, it appears as if Harry Redknapp will have to look elsewhere.

  1. Vidic, Ferdinand, Evans and smalling. Why would he go to Man Utd? He could happily come to Spurs but not for 16 Million. 4 Million plus Bassong

  2. WHATS THE PROBLEM WITH HARRY THERE`S NO CHANCE OF HARRY PLAYING A 19 YEAR OLD IN THE DEFENCE , THE LAD WOULD BE ANOTHER ONE FOR THE FUTURE AND AFTER THAT THE LAD WILL WANT TO MOVE ON BECAUSE OF LACK OF APPEARENCE`S .

  3. Can't see a defender from Blackburn worth 16m. Remember the fuss about Bent?
What has happened to the South African captain we signed in January, has not had a game yet.
Bassong is a good player but needs confidence.
