Spurs in £53m rated Serie A star interest

The Sun says we are reportedly looking to sign £53million-rated winger Federico Chiesa.

La Stampa via TMW claims the Florence based side have slapped the sizeable the price-tag on their key man following a surge of interest from across Europe.

We are said to be keen, as are mega bucks Paris Saint-Germain, along with Italian sides Juventus, Napoli and Roma.

The article describes how Chiesa, 20, has emerged as one of the best young players in Serie A after breaking into Fiorentina’s first team last year.He has four goals in 14 appearances this season and has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of his father, former Fiorentina striker and Italy international Enrico Chiesa.

It adds though, that it appears teams will have to spend big money to secure the ace, who can also play as a second striker or central midfielder.

The article goes on to say how we have struggled to replicate last season’s form which saw us finish second in the Premier League to Chelsea.Argentine Erik Lamela has only just returned to the pitch after more than a year out with injury, while Dele Alli and Harry Kane are yet to find the type of consistency which saw them elevated to England’s darlings by the media.

It adds that should he join Spurs, Chiesa could take up a role on the right-hand side of the pitch, although there may have to be a changed to the 3-4-2-1 formation to accommodate him.

Another possible deciding factor with him is that Chiesa would also be eligible to play in the Champions League, and his experience in Italy could come in handy during two legs against current Serie A champions Juventus.
