Spurs ready to pull the plug on Ade

Tottenham’s pursuit of Emmanuel Adebayor may soon be coming to an end as the club are preparing to end negotiations over the deal and make a fresh bid for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao, according to the Sun.

The newspaper have reported that Tottenham are growing increasingly frustrated and inpatient at Adebayor’s demand to receive the £4m transfer fee agreed with parent club Manchester City and may soon change direction and open negotiations with Internacional for Brazilian Olympic star Damiao.

Adebayor scored 17 goals for Tottenham while on loan at the White Hart Lane last season and a fee had been agreed with City for the permanent transfer of the player a number of weeks ago. Since then however, talks have stalled over the striker’s demands and Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy may soon scrap the deal in favour of perusing Damiao, who the club have been linked with for the past two seasons.

This information has not been verified by any figure at Spurs so it should be taken with a pinch of salt until something more concrete is unveiled. However, if true the news would come as a big disappointment as Adebayor quickly established himself as a fans favourite last season with his impressive goal tally and had developed a particularly effective relationship with winger Gareth Bale.
