Spurs and Arsenal linked striker is ready for ‘next step in his career’ – Director claims

Red Bull Salzburg director, Christoph Freud, has claimed striker Noah Okafor is now ready for the ‘next step in his career’, after reports that London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham will be among those looking to sign him this summer.

Okafor signed for Salzburg from Swiss side FC Basel back in 2020 and is now one of the hottest properties in the Austrian league.

He has scored 34 goals and registered 23 assists in 108 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt).

This season alone, Okafor has managed ten goals, three of which came in the Champions League (Transfermarkt).

The Swiss star scored against Chelsea in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge back in September.

It seems Okafor could follow in the footsteps of the likes of Erling Haaland, Sadio Mane, and Dominik Szoboszlai in being the next big star to depart the Austrian giants to compete in one of Europe’s top leagues.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are keen on the 22-year-old.

However, they will face competition from Premier League rivals West Ham, as well as Serie A side AC Milan, among others.

It was reported last month that Spurs had already made contact with Salzburg to discuss the availability of Okafor for the summer (Florian Plettenberg).

Salzburg director Christoph Freud even admitted last year that the idea of selling Okafor in 2023 could not be ruled out (Sky Germany).

Now, Freud has told Salzburger Nachrichten that Okafor is “certainly ready to take the next step in his career.” When asked about the player’s future, he replied: “Let’s see what happens.”

It definitely sounds like Okafor will be on the move and there will be plenty hoping to pick him up.

He looks to be a really impressive attacking player who could fit into Tottenham’s frontline perfectly, and it doesn’t seem like he would cost too much given the fact his contract expires next summer.
