Spurs and Arsenal reportedly ready to battle for midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur will do battle with Arsenal on the field on Sunday, but it looks as if both sides could be ready to go head to head in the transfer market.

According to a report in German news outlet Sport Bild, the Premier League pair are targeting a move for Hoffenheim’s Nadiem Amiri.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has not featured for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season due to an injury sustained to his metatarsal but did return to full training on Wednesday.

The report claims that the German Under 21 international’s contract contains a clause to allow him to leave next summer if a bid of £15million is lodged, despite being under contract until 2020.

Schalke are also said to be interested in securing Amiri’s services, but Hoffenheim would prefer to sell him to a club located outside of Germany.

Amiri featured in 31 games in all competitions for Hoffenheim last season and will be looking to rekindle the form he displayed last season once he builds up his match fitness.
