Spurs and Liverpool stars make their stance clear to Southgate

With the Premier League season now over, Tottenham and Liverpool can both look forward to the all-important Champions League final on the 1st of June at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.

Both teams will come into the game confident after they pulled off remarkable comebacks in the second leg of their respective semi finals to book a place in Madrid.

With over two weeks ahead of the game, both teams will be hoping there is enough time for their injured stars to return.

Additionally, Tottenham and Liverpool’s England stars will also be involved in a massive fixture just 5 days after the final as England take on the Netherlands in the semifinals of the Euro Nations League on the 7th of June in Guimaraes, Portugal.

This is a real problem for Gareth Southgate as up to 10 England players can potentially be involved in the final including both England’s captain and vice-captain in Harry Kane and Jordan Henderson.

This means that the England manager will not be able to work with a lot of his players until June the 3rd by the earliest. There were some suggestions that we could see a much-changed England line up for the semifinal.

However, according to a report in The Daily Mail, the English contingent from both sides have made it clear to Southgate that they want to be considered for selection for the clash against the Dutch.

The report further claims that Southgate will take the CL final factor into account while naming his squad on Thursday.

These players have played a lot of football without much of a break as they came into the season on the back of a physically and emotionally draining World Cup campaign. So, there is always a risk of pushing them too hard, which will make them susceptible to injuries.

However, these are exactly the kind of big games that players love being involved in, and so let’s hope Spurs’ England contingent are successful on both counts.
