Spurs and Man City look set to battle in January for one of Europe’s brightest talents

Tottenham Hotspur will target Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the January transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham and Manchester City both have the 21-year-old on their transfer shopping list.

Reports in France suggest that Mauricio Pochettino’s side made a £40million offer for the player who spent last season on loan at Lyon from Amiens but the bid was rejected out of hand by the French side.

His impressive performances saw him become one of the top young midfielders in Europe, prompting Lyon to sign him on a permanent basis.

After signing a contract until 2023, Lyon hold all the cards to demand a fee rumoured to be anywhere from £55m to £70m.

With Mousa Dembele being tipped to walk away from Spurs when his deal expires next summer, it looks as if Mauricio Pochettino is already working on a replacement.
