Spurs and Manchester United struggling to agree terms for Alderweireld transfer

Journalist Kevin Palmer has reported Tottenham and Manchester United are currently unable to resolve an agreement for the transfer of Toby Alderweireld.

He believes both sides are making offers which neither side can agree on.

Spurs have reportedly set a price tag of around £60m for the 29-year-old or alternatively Anthony Martial as part of a swap deal.

However, reports suggest the Red Devils are only willing to pay up to £45m for the defender and Jose Mourinho is determined not to allow Martial leave for a rival club.

With the two sides unwilling to concede defeat, this transfer saga has the sense of one which will go right down to the very last minute.

Spurs do not appear to have any obvious replacement lined up, with Jack Grealish their only current transfer target close to signing a deal with the north London club.

Therefore, should the Belgian defender leave in the last few hours of the window Spurs could be forced into the new season with only two senior centre-backs.
