Spurs announce whether Gareth Bale will start against Royal Antwerp in Europa League

Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach, Joao Sacramento, revealed today that Gareth Bale will start the Europa League match away to Royal Antwerp tomorrow night.

Bale also started the group stage opener against LASK last week, forcing Tottenham’s second goal with his low cross into the box.

However, the Welshman was not seen at the weekend in the 1-0 win over Burnley, as Erik Lamela was preferred from the bench in the second half.

Sacramento also revealed that there would be other changes from the Burnley game, but that the Spurs team would be far from weak.

On Bale, he claimed that the winger’s fitness is improving by the day and that the coaching staff believe he will reach his top level again in the near future.

Spurs fans will certainly be excited by such a prospect, with Bale still waiting for his first goal in a Tottenham shirt since returning on loan in the summer.

Sacramento said (Tottenham Website): “I can tell you that we will make some changes but like in every previous match, the changes don’t mean that the team is weak.

“We believe that with the squad that we have, even with rotation, the team will keep the level and the quality of play.

“Tomorrow, Gareth Bale will start. Gareth is improving a lot – in terms of fitness level, his condition is much, much better, he’s feeling better every day and with the interaction that we have with him, he’s feeling very positive and we believe that soon he will be at his top level again.”
