Spurs’ Antonio Conte and Hugo Lloris nominated for Premier League awards

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for August, while club captain Hugo Lloris has also been recognised with a nomination for the Premier League save of the month.

Spurs have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign, registering four wins and two draws. The North London side find themselves third in the league table, as they prepare to face off against second-placed Manchester City on Saturday evening.

While Antonio Conte’s men haven’t performed at their best just yet, their ability to secure the necessary results throughout August has been fairly impressive.

Thanks to this, the Premier League has announced Conte as one of five nominees for the Manager of the Month award for August.

The Italian is joined by London rival Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola, new Chelsea boss Graham Potter (for his work with Brighton), and Marco Silva, who has guided newly-promoted Fulham to a respectable start to the season.

Voting closes on September 12 at noon. Of course, there are some who would prefer Conte not to win the award, to avoid the mythical Manager of the Month curse.

Meanwhile, Spurs captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is also up for an award. The Frenchman has been nominated for the Premier League Save of the Month for August, for his save against Chelsea in the 2-2 draw.

Lloris is joined by Ilan Meslier, Jose Sa, Nick Pope, Emiliano Martinez, David Raya, Danny Ward, and Dean Henderson. Voting on this award also closes on September 12 at noon.

Naturally, we want the boss and the captain to take home the awards. It would be a really nice way to recognise what a strong start to the season the whole team has had, and winning awards is sure to give everyone involved a boost.

While we can certainly see Hugo taking the Save of the Month award, we have to admit it’s going to be tricky for Antonio Conte to win the Manager of the Month award. With Arsenal top of the table, Brighton flying high, and Fulham exceeding expectations, it’s anyone’s prize.
