Spurs are represented in Alan Shearer’s Premier League team of the week

Alan Shearer has become the latest pundit to shower praise on Son Heung-min following the Tottenham striker’s hat-trick against Leicester City on Saturday.

Son’s poor form was a matter of huge concern for Spurs heading into the clash against the Foxes, with the South Korean appearing a shadow of the player who won the Premier League Golden Boot last season.

Antonio Conte decided to leave the forward out of the starting eleven and picked a front three of Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison for the first time this season.

The Spurs boss introduced Son just before the hour mark, with the game finely poised at 3-2, and the 30-year-old delivered just the sort of response the Italian would have hoped for.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man scored a quickfire hat-trick, which included two spectacular curling efforts into the top corner with either foot, to help the Lilywhites emerge 6-2 winners.

Unsurprisingly, Son made it into Shearer’s Team of the Week, with the Newcastle legend stating about the Spurs man on the Premier League’s official website: “Class is permanent, and Son has it in abundance. What a 14-minute hat-trick!”

However, other top performers for Tottenham, such as Rodrigo Bentancur, did not make it into the Team of the Week this time around.

Spurs Web Opinion

Son has always scored his goals in patches as he is the epitome of a ‘confidence player’. One can now expect the floodgates to open for him over the coming weeks. With the North London Derby coming up after the international break, the South Korean could not have picked a better time to return to form.
