Japhet Tanganga continues to be overlooked by Augsburg during his loan spell with the German side, and the latest report on his situation suggests he will return to Tottenham this month before being loaned out to a Championship side.
As far as loan spells go, it is safe to say Japhet Tanganga‘s stint with Ausgburg has been nothing short of a disaster, with the Spurs man failing to make a single appearance for the Bundesliga outfit so far this term.
Granted, Tanganga was injured for a large portion of the campaign, but he has now been passed fit for approaching two months now and is still being overlooked.
Alasdair Gold recently suggested Tanganga could be heading back to Spurs, with his loan spell ready to be cut short in favour of a return to North London.
It has been reported that Premier League side Luton Town would be keen to sign Tanganga this month to aid in their bid to survive in the top flight (Daily Mail).

What is happening with Japhet Tanganga?
Now, we’ve had a few updates on the situation. First, Football.London revealed that, if Tanganga were to return to Spurs it would require his parent club to “cut the deal short” as there is currently “no break clause” in the loan agreement.
In addition, the latest report from The Athletic claims Tanganga is “expected to return” to Tottenham this month. However, it is believed the “plan will be to try and find another loan” for the player to see out the campaign, as he is not currently in Ange Postecoglou‘s plans.
Apparently, Spurs will look to clubs in the Premier League, Championship, and Serie A to take Tanganga on board.
Finally, Fabrizio Romano has backed up these claims, stating that the plan is to recall Tanganga and loan him out to a Championship side instead.
Spurs Web Opinion
You have to feel for the lad, but I think Tanganga’s time at Tottenham is at an end. I hope he finds a loan move that can help him prove himself this month, and hopefully, he will get picked up by another club on a permanent basis in the summer.
