Spurs assistant coach reveals whether he thinks Bryan Gil will stay in January

Tottenham assistant head coach, Cristian Stellini, believes that Bryan Gil will stay at Tottenham beyond the January transfer window now, due to his improvements on the pitch.

The young Spaniard was handed back-to-back starts in the Premier League for the first time in his Tottenham career over the past week, lining up against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

While the performance of the Tottenham team against Villa left a lot to be desired, Gil performed above and beyond against Palace, recording one assist and playing a part in the build-up to two other goals.

Spurs are currently without Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Lucas Moura in the forward positions, meaning Gil has become a more vital member of the squad for Conte at present.

Stellini was keen to point out that Gil has made great improvements of late and deserved the performance he put in against Crystal Palace.

Asked whether Gil would stay beyond January, Stellini said (Football London): “I think so. He’s playing very well and we’re so happy. He has a great, great, improvement because he trains every day 110 per cent and this is why he deserved to play an assist and the passes before the assist in this match.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tottenham likely cannot afford to loan out attackers at the moment due to the shortage of players. Conte appears to be trusting Gil more and more, so hopefully he can at least become an impact sub even when one or two of the others return.
