Spurs attacker is second fastest player in PL this season – Not Van de Ven

Football.London reveal that a Tottenham player has the honour of being the second fastest recorded in the Premier League this season, but it is not who you would expect.

Micky Van de Ven is Spurs’ usual speedster

Most Spurs fans would guess that Van de Ven would have been the one to record that speed, particularly given his impressive run and assist to Son Heung-min in the 4-0 win over Everton.

However, it has now been revealed that it is not the Dutchman but rather Timo Werner, who features near the top among the list of top speeds recorded this season.

According to Football.London, in the matches so far this campaign, Erling Haaland has recorded the top speed, clocking in at a rapid 35.74 km/h.

Timo Werner is the second-fastest in the league

It turns out that just behind the Manchester City star is Werner, who has been recorded at an extremely impressive 35.69 km/h.

This is particularly surprising, given that the German international has not had much game time for Spurs this season, but he has still clocked an extremely quick sprint during his few cameos.

Micky Van de Ven will likely have his eye on reclaiming the top spot as the season goes on.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is still quite early days in the season and perhaps a bit too early to be looking at this stat.

I would be surprised if either Haaland or Werner are in the top five for top speeds by the end of the season. Just don’t push those hamstrings too far, Micky!
