Spurs back in for Bassong

Harry Redknapp is to re-kindle his interest in Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong.

Following injuries to Ledley King, Michael Dawson and Jonathan Woodgate – the Tottenham boss has been relying on Tom Huddlestone, Dorian Dervite and Vedran Corluka to fill in for the absent experienced trio.

The 22-year-old Frenchman moved to Newcastle last summer in a £1.5million deal from Metz, and was one of Newcastle’s better performers last season.

Arsenal have also been credited with interest in Bassong in the past, but Redknapp could be set to move for Bassong to help ease his defensive injury crisis.

  1. This could be the answer to what we need, he is big strong and has plenty of pace, definitely barcodes best defender last season. I only hope we put a bid on the table and sign him quick rather than wait and get pipped by the a*se.

  2. would be a good signing for us, we desperately need to get some cover at the back! Also think we should go for Taylor from the barcodes as i rate him aswell!!

  3. yeah, agreed. but off load chimbo and hutton. king to the coaching staff. if we can,t get bassong, go for materazzi or nesta or may be both.
