Spurs battle Villa for Delph

Reports in the Sunday press are suggesting that Tottenham and Aston Villa are going head-to-head to sign Leeds United’s Fabian Delph.

Spurs are already said to have had an £18million bid turned down from Villa for Ashley Young, who Villa value at £30million.

Delph, 19, operates in midfield and is valued at £6million by the League One outfit.  He has made 44 appearances for Leeds, scoring six goals.  Delph has represented England at Under-19 and Under-21 level’s.

Sources at Elland Road are claiming that Spurs are leading the chase, but Villa and Arsenal remain interested.

  1. Anyone, not Crouch please. He gives the crowd back pains collecting the ball.
    Bent, Paly, Defoe and Robbie are better than Crouch.
    Huntelaar is a far better player, our team should be Paly,Defoe, Huntelaar and a young player.Plus another new player along side Wilson in the middle even if we have to wait to Christmas for that and a left sided man of course.
    Bentley should also be given another year.

  2. I would like Delph.
    I’d work with Modric with speed, and see if he’d stay more to the left although we know palacios can help cover, and put delph in mid with placios and obv lennon on right. :)

  3. rebrov = open your eyes ! Defoe is class. Think delph be good signing for us, maybe try and slowly move moderic into that cm role this season to replace the awful jenas, and maybe delph take an early shine on the left

  4. well i’ve seen him play on left few times and hes looked good there, not saying he don’t play centre mid, also aint sure what his natural pos is but he can sure do the job on the left if push came to shove!
