Spurs boost as report reveals reason why United dropped out of Ndombele race

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a club record signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon this summer.

Sky Sports claimed last week that Spurs had agreed a £65m fee with the French club in order to secure the midfielder’s signature this transfer window.

The Sun even reported that Ndombele had already been given a tour of the Spurs training facilities at Hotspur Way by Mauricio Pochettino himself.

However, Jean-Michel Aulus cast doubt over these claims recently, stating that Tottenham had only offered €45m for the central midfielder and a deal had not yet been agreed (Telegraph).

TalkSPORT later claimed that French football expert Julien Laurens had told them that Spurs would bid £70m for Ndombele next week.

The story seems to be changing depending on which report you read, but a new article from 90 Mins may make Spurs fans feel a little more confident.

They say that Man United only pulled out of the Ndombele race when they heard that the player had met with Poch and desired to play in London.
