Spurs break Premier League record with win over Bournemouth

Tottenham thrashed Bournemouth 5-0 at Wembley this evening courtesy of a brace from Son Heung-Min and a goal each for Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, and Lucas Moura.

The result takes Tottenham to second place in the league above Manchester City after they went down 2-1 away at Leicester.

Spurs continued from where they left off against Everton three days ago as they looked ruthless right from kick-off. The performance and result will certainly have fans dreaming that the Lillywhites can mount a serious challenge to Liverpool who are six points clear at the summit of the table.

The result also meant that Tottenham have broken a unique Premier League record. Spurs have become the first team to not draw any of their first 19 games of the season. Tottenham have so far won 15 of their opening 19 games and lost 4.

What really cost Spurs in previous seasons were the draws that they played out early doors.

This season Pochettino’s men have been able to turn those draws into wins, which has put them right in the thick of the title race at the halfway point.

Spurs fans will be pleased that the team has hit form at just the right time.
