‘Spurs can be Spursy’ – Mark Lawrenson shares Spurs v Leicester prediction

Mark Lawrenson has said that he expects Tottenham to bounce back from their loss against Sporting by putting Leicester City to the sword later this afternoon.

Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat away at Lisbon was the north London club’s first defeat across all competitions since mid-April.

Reports indicated that Antonio Conte delivered some stern words in the away dressing room at the Jose Alvalade Stadium after the final whistle on Tuesday and scheduled a training session on the morning that he and his players arrived back from Portugal (The Telegraph).

During his pre-match press conference on Thursday (Football.London), the Spurs boss insisted that his players missed out on an opportunity to take all three points in Portugal and added that they now need to respond by returning to winning ways against the Foxes.

Lawrenson believes that Spurs will brush Leicester aside at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon, given the struggles Brendan Rodgers’ men are having at the moment.

When asked to predict the result of the clash, the pundit told Paddy Power: “Apparently Antonio Conte tore into Tottenham during the week which you can imagine. Spurs can be Spursy if they’re not at it. But Leicester are all over the place. So I’ll go for a healthy home win. Tottenham 3-0 Leicester.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Leicester are completely devoid of confidence at the moment but they still have some top-class players who could hurt us.

The fact that they now have their backs against the wall and could potentially be playing to keep Rodgers in the job, could make them quite dangerous.

Conte will be hoping that we get an early goal to further dent the Leicester players’ spirits and make our job a lot easier.
