Spurs ‘cannot win anything’ unless they make this big change – Pundit claims

Steve Nicol is at the end of his patience with Spurs, insisting that they are continuing to show one big weakness under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs continued to be plagued by inconsistency

While all teams apart from Liverpool this season have been plagued by inconsistency, Tottenham have arguably been the worst offenders.

It seems like you do not know which Spurs side you are going to get on a weekly basis – the one that put four past Manchester City and Aston Villa, or the one which lost to Ipswich at home.

While the Premier League table is still quite tight, Tottenham run the risk of being left adrift in the race for the top four by the end of this busy run of fixtures.

Steve Nicol says Spurs have one major problem

Nicol pointed out that unlike some other sides in the Premier League, Tottenham are only able to win if all their players play at their best.

He suggested that Postecoglou‘s men will not win anything this season unless they find ways to win ugly.

The pundit said on ESPN FC: “They [Liverpool] have shown there are different ways that they can skin a cat; unfortunately for Tottenham, they only have that one way.

“We have tried to give Postecoglou a lot of time to get past that initial ten games when they were sitting top of the league because of the way they played, but they have not changed the way they play.

“Unfortunately, unless every one of them is busting their gut, the veins are coming out of their neck when the game starts and they are getting after everybody and running 100 miles per hour, unless they do that, they are not beating anybody. That can’t be right. You can’t win anything by hoping that you turn up and everybody is 100 per cent at it.”

Tottenham are hamstrung by their injury crisis

While there is no doubt that Spurs have been inconsistent this season, it would be unfair to judge them too harshly for the draws against Roma and Fulham.

In both those games, the Lilywhites were missing a number of key starters and Postecoglou did not have any decent options to bring on from the bench.

Tottenham’s squad is being stretched to its absolute limit at the moment and they desperately need some of their key players back.
