Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Ledley King has signed a new contract until 2012.

The defender has battled against his ongoing knee problem to play 20 times this season for Spurs, helping the club to a 4th place finish and in the process, being named in Fabio Capello’s 30-man provisional World Cup squad.

He told the official Spurs site: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract with Spurs. I have been here since I was a schoolboy and I could never see myself going anywhere else. This is where I want to continue playing my football.

“We’ve got the prospect of Champions League football to look forward to next season and with the quality of players we have I believe we are on the brink of something big.

“It is an exciting time for the Club with a new training ground being built and plans for a new stadium.

“I am enjoying my football and I want to be a part of what is happening here.”
