Spurs cause problems in the Chelsea dressing room

Tottenham Hotspur absolutely battered Chelsea at Wembley from start to finish last weekend, eventually winning the game 3-1.

If the likes of Heung Min Son and Harry Kane had buried all their clear cut chances, Tottenham could have realistically won the game by five or six.

They had to make do with the three though, with Dele Alli, Kane and Sonny bagging one each.

As amazing as Spurs were over the 90 minutes, Chelsea were absolutely dismal, putting in a lacklustre and lazy performance at the national stadium.

David Luiz, Jorginho, Rudiger and Kante in particular were dreadful for the team in yellow.

The Guardian have reported today that Chelsea gaffer Maurizio Sarri was forced to hold one-on-one meetings with the Chelsea team after the sorry performance.

It seems as if Chelsea have gone from unbeaten in the League to complete disarray after the Spurs defeat.

Sarri wanted to find out from the individual players why they lacked determination for such an important game, when the Spurs men grabbed it by the scruff of the neck.

The Guardian report he said: “I talked to them player by player, a meeting of five to 10 minutes with the individuals.

“I had to think about everything because, on Saturday, we played very badly, a match without determination.

“It’s very difficult for them, I think, to tell me why. Very difficult. Somebody told me that, maybe, the international break was a problem; that it was a problem to be immediately ready at 100%, but I don’t know.

It’s very difficult for me to understand why we played without determination in such an important match.

“If you don’t have determination, you have no motivation. If you have no motivation, maybe you don’t have clear targets in your mind. I wanted to understand this.

“The problem was also with the approach to the match in the previous three matches [against Crystal Palace, BATE Borisov and Everton], but if you go on to the pitch with that approach and the opponents are very strong, like Tottenham, and determined like Tottenham were, the problem is bigger. So they were able to destroy us in 15 minutes. But I’d seen the same problems also in the matches before.”
