Juan Mata - Tottenham Hotspur News

Tottenham Hotspur have missed out on another transfer target after it was announced that Chelsea have agreed a fee with Valencia for Juan Mata.

Arsenal had also been linked with a move for the Spanish winger but he will now be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Apparently Mata turned downt he prospect of a move to Spurs – but this should end Chelsea’s interest in Modric at least.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. So Spurs “missed out” but the goons were only “linked”? Didn’t they along with any other club in Europe linked to him by lazy journos and silly bloggers in search of space-filling also miss out? How come only Spurs are snubbed? This was never a go-er in the real world anyway.

  2. This will end interest in Modric? Absolute nonsense. He will be leaving Spurs on Wednesday, with the Chelsea reject Benayoun added to the deal as a makeweight. The medicals have already been scheduled.

  3. I would rather have full fee than take him. Not a bad player in his own right but doesnt exactly show statement of intent from us that we're willing to take a player who cannot get a game with them. If they were offering Alex or Sturridge instead maybe a different story.
