Spurs confirm 21-year-old has left the club on loan

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brandon Austin has joined Danish side Viborg FF on loan for the remainder of the season.

The move to the team which play in the equivalent of the English Championship is subject to international clearance and will see the 21-year-old look to experience regular first team football.

Austin signed a new contract last month which will keep him in North London until 2022 (Spurs official).

The academy product saw himself heavily involved with the Spurs first team this season following Hugo Lloris’ elbow injury.

Austin appeared on the substitutes’ bench for the first team as Paulo Gazzaniga’s understudy in six competitive matches this season, including the Champions League trip to Bayern Munich in November (transfermarkt).

With Lloris having reinstated as the club’s number one after recovering from injury, it means that Austin’s opportunities have become limited with Gazzaniga dropping back into the role as back-up.

Viborg are currently in third place in the table having won ten of their eighteen matches this season.
