Spurs confirm departure of Nuno Espirito Santo and backroom staff

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the departure of head coach Nuno Espirito Santo this morning in the wake of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United.

The club have also revealed that members of Nuno’s coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have also followed him in leaving the club.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici were reported to have held a meeting on Sunday to discuss the fate of the Portuguese and decided to show him the door (Daily Mail).

The North London outfit are yet to confirm who will be taking the place of the 47-year-old by instead insisting that an announcement will be made ‘in due course’.

Nuno departs with the club currently in eighth place in the Premier League, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, and failed to register a shot on target during Saturday’s loss.

The appointment of Nuno has been nothing short of a disaster and the club need to act fast to bring in a manager with a serial-winner reputation, with Antonio Conte fitting the bill.
