Spurs confirm exit of big-money midfielder on loan

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has completed his loan move to Villarreal.

The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the La Liga outfit where he helped them to reach the semi final of the Champions League.

Lo Celso is one of a number of players which Antonio Conte has deemed to be surplus to requirements and has been trying to offload which also includes Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilion (Daily Mail).

The Argentine international joined Spurs in a £55million deal from Real Betis in the summer of 2019 but failed to show the levels of consistency to impress during his time in north London (Sky Sports).

It has been reported that Tottenham are able to cut short the loan deal in January, should they wish and a bid is received for the player (Fabrizio Romano).

Spursweb Opinion

Getting Lo Celso out of the club, albeit on another loan is great news for Tottenham, especially if they are covering the majority of his wages.

He is another big money signing who has completely flopped during his time on the pitch and aside from a few good games under Mourinho, will go with the blessing o the vast majority of fans.
