Spurs confirm first senior sale of the summer for reported eight-figure sum

Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed the sale of Harry Winks to Leicester City as the academy graduate moves in the opposite direction to James Maddison in a completely separate transfer.

Reports had already indicated that the two sides had come to a £10m agreement for the transfer of Winks, with the midfielder having been sent out on loan last season (BBC).

After Antonio Conte decided the 27-year-old was not in his plans, Spurs sent Winks to Sampdoria in Serie A, where he struggled with a serious injury until mid-way through the season.

However, the Spurs midfielder actually ended up impressing in the engine room for the Italian side, even if they failed to avoid relegation from the top flight.
