Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that they have had to make a change to their squad ahead of this afternoon’s match against Newcastle United.
Moussa Sissoko was originally named among the substitutes for the Premier League encounter but has had to withdraw from Jose Mourinho’s squad after feeling unwell.
The French international’s place has been taken by loanee Gedson Fernandes who is yet to play a minute of competitive football this season.
Sissoko misses the opportunity to face his former side and it remains to be seen whether he will be well enough to be considered for Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The midfielder has yet to complete a full ninety minutes in any of Tottenham’s matches this season (transfermarkt).
Spurs are looking to register their second top flight win of the campaign when they take to the field against the Magpies.
