Spurs confirm midfielder has left on a season-long loan

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that midfielder Jamie Bowden has joined Oldham Athletic on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut in a first team pre-season friendly match away to Girona in August 2018 and has found himself involved with the squad on a few occasions since, most recently an unused substitute in a Europa League round of 32, first leg match against Wolfsberger AC in February of last year.

Bowden will now head out to the League Two side for his first experience of regular first-team football at a lower league club, following in the footsteps of the likes of Troy Parrott who will play for MK Dons this season.

The midfielder made 15 appearances for the Under-23 last season, scoring two goals.

It is good to see another talented youngster heading out for a taste of senior football, rather than play another season of Premier League 2 football.

Playing week in, week out against men will vastly benefit Bowden, who has shown glimpses of promise in the past. Notably, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 home win over Liverpool in the Premier League 2 in December 2019.
