Spurs confirm midfielder has left the club on loan

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that young midfielder George Marsh has headed out on loan.

Marsh has linked up with League Two outfit Leyton Orient until January to allow the 20-year-old to continue his footballing education with first-team football lower down the pyramid.

Mauricio Pochettino included Marsh as part of his pre-season tour to the Far East, which is the second successive pre-season which he has featured.

Marsh made his senior debut during the club’s 2018 pre-season tour of the USA and was rewarded for his efforts with a competitive first team debut when he appeared in the second half of the 7-0 FA Cup demolition of Tranmere Rovers in January.

He was also an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup win against West Ham United in October 2018, along with the Premier League matches against Huddersfield Town and Everton at the back end of last season.

Marsh also gained the experience of being part of the travelling party for Tottenham’s Champions League quarter final second leg against Manchester City along with the trip to Madrid for the final against Liverpool.

Opinion

Marsh is one of the academy’s brightest prospects and the opportunity to play first team football will certainly fast-track his progress rather than continuing to play for John McDermott’s Under-23 side.
