Spurs confirm midfielder has signed new contract until 2027

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Oliver Skipp has signed a new five-year contract with the club.

Skipp last signed a four-year contract in July 2020 while Jose Mourinho was in charge with the Portuguese tipping the young midfielder to become a future captain of Tottenham (Sky Sports).

The Telegraph reported earlier today that the midfielder is set to earn around £50,000-a-week from his new deal.

Skipp impressed during his loan spell at Norwich City for the 2020-21 season, helping the Canaries to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has seen his season grind to a halt over a pelvic issue which has kept him sidelined since the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea on January 23rd.

Securing Skipp to a new deal is a brilliant piece of business for Spurs, with the academy product looking to compete with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur for the starting berths in midfield.

Skipp’s progression this season has seen Harry Winks move further down the pecking order with the England international now likely to seek a departure in the summer if he wants regular game time.
