Spurs confirm midfielder has signed new long-term contract

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that midfielder Oliver Skipp has signed a new contract with the club until 2024.

The academy graduate made his competitive first team debut under Mauricio Pochettino when he appeared in a 3-1 Carabao Cup win against West Ham United in October 2018 and went on to appear in the Premier League for the first time as a second-half substitute in a 3-1 victory over Southampton at Wembley in December of the same year (Spurs official).

Skipp was praised by head coach Jose Mourinho following the FA Cup defeat to Norwich City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the beginning of March, where he started his first game for Spurs since the League Cup defeat to Colchester United and played the full 120 minutes against the Canaries (Football.London).

The 19-year-old has made nine appearances in all competitions this season for the North Londoners and it remains to be seen whether he will be given a more regular chance to play next season or if he could head out on loan to continue his footballing education (transfermarkt).
