Spurs confirm new signing

Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed that they have re-signed former goalkeeper Michel Vorm until the end of the current season.

The News first broke regarding Spurs’ interest in resigning Vorm earlier in the day with Dutch publication NOS being one of the first to report that it was a done deal.

Since then, things have progressed quickly with the 36-year-old now putting pen to paper on a new short term deal.

Vorm spent five years at Tottenham since moving from Swansea in 2014 and left last summer when his contract with the club ran out. The club did not offer the Dutchman a new contract and he remained a free agent until now.

Hugo Lloris is not expected to return to training before the end of the calendar year after dislocating his elbow against Brighton and Hove Albion in Spurs’ last outing. Vorm will thus provide the team with much-needed cover in the position.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham have to consider themselves fortunate that Vorm hadn’t signed with any other club as they would have otherwise found it quite difficult to find a suitable replacement before January. The fact that the Dutchman was still a free agent made this signing a no brainier as he is also someone that knows the club well.
