Spurs could make a move for out-of-favour Aston Villa man – Journalist

Journalist Dean Jones has said that Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey is on Tottenham Hotspur’s shopping list ahead of the summer transfer window.

On the back of two promising campaigns, many would have expected Ramsey to kick on and make the next step this season but instead, the youngster has struggled to get into Unai Emery’s starting eleven in 2023-24.

The 22-year-old has only made 16 league appearances for the Villans, coming on as a substitute for the majority of those and that has led to speculation that he might be on his way out of his boyhood club.

Back in January, it was reported by David Ornstein at The Athletic that Tottenham had expressed an interest in the youngster but he explained that Villa did not want to let the player leave at the time.

A couple of days ago, GiveMeSport suggested that the Midlands club could cash in on their academy graduate this summer in order to fund moves for Emery’s top targets.

Tottenham are looking at Jacob Ramsey

Jones has now said that Tottenham are on the lookout for homegrown midfield options, with Ramsey being one of the players on their radar.

The journalist said on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast: “Tottenham will try to sign a midfielder. They want homegrown players, they need to focus on players who are homegrown, that was said to me recently.

“So there’s a certain profile of player, so you’ll see the likes of Jacob Ramsey and Conor Gallagher, these type of players linked with Tottenham.”

Spurs Web Opinion

With Tottenham having let Eric Dier leave in January and with Oliver Skipp, Troy Parrott, Japhet Tanganga and potentially even Ben Davies on their way out this summer, one can understand why the club are looking for homegrown options.

However, based on reports over recent weeks, it does not appear as if Ramsey is on their radar any longer. Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Leicester’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall appear to be backup options Spurs have identified for Gallagher, who seemingly remains their top target.
