Spurs dealt striker blow

Tottenham’s hopes of signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could be over after AC Milan plan to use the striker in a swap deal with Juventus.

Reports in the Corriere dello Sport claim that AC are ready to o offer Huntelaar, Massimo Oddo and Mancini in exchange for Christian Poulsen and Mohamed Sissoko.

Huntelaar has insisted that he wants to remain at the San Siro to prove that he is a better player than he has shown.

‘I see my name in the Italian newspapers and I don’t understand why,’ Huntelaar said.

‘I would like to know who has said that I will be sold, because it doesn’t seem like anyone from the club has said anything.

‘No other club interests me: my agent has never spoken about a transfer and I want to stay at Milan. I will not leave Milan until I have demonstrated my worth.’

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. No Dzeko, no Huntelaar, beginning to think we won’t be getting that big 'Torres' like player……….. Getting into CL was massive, and we had a great season but without any improvement to the squad I doubt we can compete with the best in CL, it’s a totally different level, most of the teams are equivalents of Chelsea, Man U, and Arsenal, there no guarantee we will make it through qualifying stage, CL virgins, we have the money we really do need one or two really world class players, we have a great squad but realistically how many of them would get into Barca, Bayern Inter etc, Bale and Modric have been linked, but whether any bids materialise that another story.

  2. It's not about how many of our players would fit into Barcelona's team. Look at Bayern or Lyon: how many of their starting 11 would get into Barcelona's lineup? Even Inter, winners of the Champions League, would struggle to disrupt Barcelona's team. Look at Fulham – how many of their 11 would break into Juventus'? Yet Juve still fell to them. I think they were proof it's about squad mentality rather than indivudual superstars.

We do need 1 or 2 players that can elevate us to the next level but looking at our squad and comparing it to Barcelona's isn't the right way to go. If we bring in the right signings that want to tow the same line and can blend in with our squad then we're on the right track.

Bring on Sevilla anyday. We should 'ave had them last time.

  3. There is a very good reason for players not wanting to come to Spurs Pavlyuchenko could not get a starting place or Keane or Bent . Then Robbie scored 14 goals or more Bent got 26 Pav got 8 . so the strikers wont sit on the bench. We need continuity thats what helped us to get that fourth spot Buying players untried would be foolish and a waste of money. We also have some exciting youngsters waiting to show us whether they can move up to the first team

  4. i've been suprised at the lack of activity when u think of the number of players we have who seem to be surplus to requirements, especially as our manager has a rep for wheeling & dealing. saying that it has been quiet for all the clubs i wonder if the world cup has had something to do with that. it is imperative that we sign a truely world class striker, quite frankly our present fearsome four are simply not good enough, some of the chances missed have been criminal especially in the games against stoke & hull, even in the everton game when we drew, we should have been out of sight but our strikers let us down by missing fairly regulation chance i have always thought that we should not have brought back keane, as a move it has been a disaster (rafa messed with his head), arry should be looking for another one of his "boyhood clubs" to sell him to. i also think it is time to cut our losses on pav, the combined fee of these two should be enough to buy one world class striker.
