Ben Davies has revealed that he and his Tottenham teammates are ready to put in the hard work necessary to embody Antonio Conte’s ideas.
Tottenham were held to a 0-0 in Conte’s first game in charge against Everton on Sunday. Even though the away side failed to create too many clear-cut chances at Goodison Park, their organisation and structure at the back was much improved.
The new Tottenham boss said after the game that he was pleased with the effort that the players put in, although he did admit that they made a few mistakes in the final third.
Davies, who was a peripheral figure under Nuno Espirito Santo this season, has started both games under Conte at left-centre-back.
The Welshman admitted that the Tottenham players have plenty of work to do in order to get to the level that the Italian wants them to do but he insisted that they are desperate to improve.
Davies told The Evening Standard: “We’ve got a lot to work on. We’ve got a lot to improve on but I think he’s a world-class manager who is going to bring his ideas in.
“He is going to work us hard to make sure we do it right. As players, we’re desperate to get going with him now.”

I would not be surprised if Davies becomes an important part of the side under Conte. I can see the Italian really taking to the former Swansea man, not only because he is a good fit for the left-centre-back role but also because of his work ethic and reliability.
