Spurs defender closes in on deal

Cameron Carter-Vickers is closing in on a move away from Spurs with Swansea City believed to be the leading side in the race for his signature, according to BBC Sport.

The 20-year-old featured heavily in Tottenham’s pre-season tour of the USA but after a move away for Toby Alderweireld broke down it is believed Carter-Vickers will be loaned out.

The American defender spent all of last season out on loan, spending half of the campaign at Sheffield United and the remainder at Ipswich Town.

With numerous Championship sides interested in landing the loan signing, BBC Sport understands it is the Welsh side Swansea who have emerged as favourites.

Manager, Graham Potter is understood to be looking to strengthen his defence in the Swans’ quest to bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Carter-Vickers recently signed a new deal with Spurs until 2021 meaning he is likely to remain on Spurs’ books but the youngster may not be impressed at the lack of opportunities at the Lilywhites.

Spurs fans, do you think Carter-Vickers will ever get a real chance to break into the starting XI?
