Ben Davies has claimed that he and the rest of his Tottenham Hotspur teammates are fully on-board with Jose Mourinho’s methods and believe that the Portuguese coach is going to lead the team to success.
On the back of Tottenham’s struggles over recent weeks, there have been some suggestions that Mourinho is at the risk of losing his job.
The Athletic even claimed that some players in the dressing room are unhappy with the Tottenham boss’ training methods since there is too much emphasis on defending and adapting to the opposition.
However, Davies insisted that the players are continuing to approach training with the right attitude.
The Welshman said (via Alasdair Gold): “He (Mourinho) will set us up the way that he wants to.
“We have full respect and belief in the way that he’s working, and as players, it’s up to us to stand up.
“We’ve got to put our best foot forwards, as best as we can.”
Mourinho came out fighting in his press conference yesterday afternoon, claiming that he is more motivated than ever to lead Spurs to success and insisted that the team’s poor run of form has not changed his mood around the cap.
When Davies was asked about the 58-year-old’s demeanour, he responded: “He’s been great with us this week. It’s not where we want it go right now and you can have tough periods and you have to be reflective and stand up to the pressure. We need to turn this around.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Given the incredibly poor run of form we have been on, it is to be expected that negative stories would come out regarding the players’ relationship with Mourinho. However, based on the body language of the players in the 2-1 defeat to West Ham, it does not seem to me like the Spurs boss has lost the dressing room. It was obvious that they are willing to fight for him and that suggests that Jose can still turn our form around.
