Spurs defender now set to stay as PSG move breaks down

PSG have pulled out of the race for Tottenham defender Danny Rose, according to ParisUnited.

It is believed the Ligue 1 champions questioned the ‘profile’ of Danny Rose, being one of the numerous reasons they no longer have an interest in signing the left-back.

The 28-year-old has endured a turbulent year and a half at Tottenham following a lengthy spell out due to injury.

During his nine months of recovery, the defender suffered from mental health problems and put his Spurs career in doubt with a controversial interview with The Sun.

Welsh left-back Ben Davies has since secured the left-back position in Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side.

A move back up north looked imminent for Danny Rose with Manchester United seemingly interested.

However, Jose Mourinho’s side also dropped their interest in the Doncaster born defender.

Rose now looks set to stay at Spurs with no serious interest coming in for the defender but with the Premier League, Champions League and other domestic cups to play for is that such a bad thing?

Spurs fans, let us know what you think.

  1. Poor old Danny; one interview at a time when he was very low and he is still being made to pay for it. What race to sign Danny Rose? Where was his agent and what was he doing to support Danny at that time. Whether the interview or the content was his idea or not, he should have been taking better care of his client.

I am glad that Danny is staying and if he shows the commitment he will be a key contributor.

  2. Just needs to get his head down and reclaim that shirt from Davies.

Pre-injury/depression, Rose was arguably the best left back in the league – so if he recaptures that form he’ll be a huge asset and should not be sold or put out on loan.

  3. Does anyone know if Rose counts as one of our home grown players? If so, there’s no way he’d be allowed to leave because we won’t be able to name a 24 man squad, as I’m led to believe.

  4. Happy for him to stay. He’s a good player – just needs to be more positive. If he can get some of his old form back, could still displace Davies.

  5. Yep, Rose counts as home grown so we would never have sold him before January. Press stirring as usual. It’s been proved Schalke were never interested. I very much doubt PSG were ever serious either.
