Spurs defender scoops silver boot trophy for his impressive display

Juan Foyth has been named as Argentina’s Man of the Match following their 2-0 win against Mexico in the early hours of this morning.

The Tottenham Hotspur central defender was making his first senior appearance for his country in the match that took place at the 57,000 capacity Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba.

Foyth was awarded a silver boot trophy in recognition for his impressive debut display and could be in line to win his second cap when both sides meet once again on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old sported a bandage on his right cheekbone after colliding with a team mate during a training session on Friday.

Erik Lamela made a late substitute appearance, while fellow Spurs player Paulo Gazzaniga was named amongst the substitutes for the first time.

Foyth has now won two successive Man of the Match trophies after collecting the award in Tottenham’s 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, where he scored the only goal of the game at Selhurst Park.
