Spurs defender would welcome recruitment of Champions League winner

Former Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has had the toughest season of his career todate due to several off-field issues at Real Madrid.

While the Welshman has still performed well whenever called upon, he has been criticised by the Spanish press for his attitude and has even been jeered off by his own fans.

Many reports have suggested that this could be the 29-year-old’s last season in the Spanish capital, with a return to Spurs also being suggested as a possibility.

Tottenham full-back Ben Davies was asked about his Wales teammate’s problems at Madrid and he suggested that the treatment Bale was getting was unfair.

Additionally, Davies also said he would like the pacey attacker to return to Spurs but admitted that its unlikely to happen.

Bale’s current wages in Spain far outweigh even what Tottenham’s highest earners take home in their pay packet.

Speaking to the Mirror, Davies said, “He’s come under a bit of flak at Madrid recently, but for Wales he’s always been brilliant.

“I’m always going to say it’s unfair (Bale’s treatment at Madrid), he is one of the best players in the world, we see it every day in training.

“I’d definitely have him at Tottenham. But I don’t know how likely that is.”
