Spurs defender set for North London stay despite transfer talk

Through much of the transfer window, talk of the potential departures of Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele, and Danny Rose filled the back pages.

While the first two seemed relatively certain to stay for at least another year after the Premier League purchase window slammed shut, the fate of Danny Rose was rather more clouded.

With interest from both PSG and Marseille, rumour had it that the Tottenham left-back’ time in London was at an end, after more than a decade of service.

However, despite rumours that the England man was out of Pochettino’s plans, Rose was a surprise inclusion from the start against Manchester United on Monday night, with regular first teamer Ben Davies on the bench.

Danny Rose looked more than sloppy in his first game back this season, but that was to be expected, after he appeared sparingly for England during the World Cup too.

Reports from the Telegraph now suggest that Rose has impressed Pochettino in recent training sessions, and may play his way back into the Argentinian’s plans.

Rose and the gaffer used to have an extremely good relationship, with many of the squad teasing the defender by calling him the ‘manager’s son’.

Despite a rocky patch, it now seems that Rose’s career is on the path to recovery.
